Jumaira Spice – Ecclesfield, Sheffield

One of our “Local” curry houses based in Ecclesfield serves an array of delicious curries and Indian starters and has a great atmosphere for all, whether you’re visiting with the family, as a couple or with a group of friends. A place that we visit time and time again.

I always say you can’t go wrong with a good old curry house (yes I do also love trying Traditional Punjabi & Pakistan food, but I also still really enjoy a curry house more catered to British pallet!), and this is one of our most local ones that we visit every couple of months and we have no doubt we will be back again. A good choice for an occasion meal out for all. I feel that with British Indian restaurants it’s either a really good one that you will return to time and time again, or you go once and it’s just ok and you have no need to go back.. This is definitely one of the goods ones and I have no issues with recommending Jumaira Spice to everyone.

We’ve had a fair few decent courses at Jumaira and their menu covers a wide range of tantalising starters, a range of classic curries and various specials, but some outstanding dishes to note are;

  • Lamb Paneer – A medium spiced dish cooked in a rich sauce. An obvious choice for me as I like to seek out Lamb or Paneer on any menu as I love the flavours they bring to a dish. A superb curry.
  • Chicken Kaabali – Chicken pieces marinated, grilled and garnished with melting cheese, served with fried onions, peppers, tomatoes and baby potatoes. I have seen this starter on a couple of Indian Restaurant menus and I love it. Definitely give this one a try.
  • Lamb Seekh Kebab Starter – juicy and tasty.
  • Makai Ka Sewat (house special) – tender lamb & chicken cooked with sweetcorn & fresh lemon in a spicy tomato sauce, garnished with coriander.
  • Panch Rangia Chicken (house special) – HOT!A speciality from Hyderabad, diced pieces of chicken cooked in tantalising mix pickle masala laced with fresh green chillies & coriander.

You HAVE to have the poppadoms and pickle tray here before your meal – lots of sauces to choose from, and the garlic naans are delicious too.

As well as all the tasty food, the service here is always inviting, friendly and upbeat. Why not get a bargain and dine with them during their Early Bird Menu where you can get 4 courses for £17.95 (Poppadoms, Starter, Main, Rice or Naan) between Sunday and Thursday 5pm – 8pm, it’s well worth it, but please book ahead.
