A restaurant set in the historic Grade 2 listed former Terry’s Chocolate Factory, situated close to York Racecourse. This lovely restaurant celebrated it’s second anniversary in August, and we had the pleasure of trying out their exceptional food. [ad|invite]
The building was formerly used to house coffee beans and barrels of rum, used for chocolate making, and the venue still pays homage to this history.
Head Chef Matt Leivers and his team focus on classic cooking, elevating this through high quality ingredients and the precision in their beautiful plating. The dishes have a Northern touch, and are created using seasonal Yorkshire and European produce from some of the region’s finest suppliers including Simon Baynes, M and K Butchers, the Hooting Owl Distillery, and more.

We thoroughly enjoyed every dish and flavour that we had on our visit. This included;
- Salt ‘n’ Pepper king scallop with char siu pork belly, hot & sour pineapple
- Black Tom Gin & Dulse cured salmon with toasted English muffin & smoked roe butter
- BBQ rump of Yorkshire reared beef, with slow cooked brisket jacket, creamed corn, jalapeno & nasturtium “chimichurri”
- 10oz Pan Roasted Sirloin with garlic & parsley butter, house pickle salad, skin on fries & Stilton & chive cream sauce
- Terry’s old fashioned chocolate mousse with bourbon & candied orange
- Strawberry & Elderflower Tartlet with honey roasted oats
- White choco-lada
- Chocolate orange negroni
Will, Matt and the rest of the team here really looked after us, and we had a fantastic evening full of amazing food. The restaurant also serve a daytime menu including brunch and sandwiches, and Sunday Lunch.
