The Psalter, Sheffield

Our host, Jack, was brilliant and was there for anything we needed. He even showed me around their large restaurant area (we were seated for our meal in the cosy lounge),which can be used for functions, from baby showers to weddings. The gorgeous blue hues and twinkling lights make the restaurant a lovely, attractive space.

Here’s what we enjoyed;

  • Starters (or Small Plates as they are often called now); Psalter Fried Chicken with spring onion & BBQ sauce & Cheddar Doughnuts with sweet chilli jam. ️Yum! The Doughnuts are particularly cheesy. The chicken was really good. Great small plates to share between us.
  • 10oz Ribeye Steak (medium rare) & Blue Cheese sauce, with triple cooked chips, roast mushroom, grilled tomato and homemade onion ring. ️Ben loved this, everything cooked to perfection. The sauce was quite a creamy one, so even I liked it! (not big on blue cheese myself)
  • Monkfish Tail with Madras sauce, Bombay potatoes & courgette fritter. This was such a rich, tasty dish. The courgette fritter was more like a bhaji 👌🏼👌🏼
  • Erin’s “Death by Chocolate” Triple chocolate baked cookie dough with chocolate ice cream. I went straight in with this and burnt my mouth! It was very chocolatey, if not a little sickly even for me!
  • Kyle’s Sticky Toffee Pudding Miso caramel & clotted cream. Massive portion. In hindsight, I actually wished we’d have shared this dessert and not given into chocolate temptation, as this was actually the best one. It was so delicious!

A really great meal for the both of us, in a lovely setting. I would say that the price point is more of a special occasion to visit and dine here personally. Visit their website here for more information on The Psalter.
