Bengal Brasserie, Leeds City Centre

A great restaurant for anyone that loves Indian Cuisine and as tradition with Bengali food, the food served is very flavoursome and quite spicy. Based next to Leeds Arena, you will enjoy really good value for money food here and outstanding service. [AD|INVITE]

I have visited this Leeds based Indian Restaurant, Bengal Brasserie, a number of times now, and have always thoroughly enjoyed the food and service here. I regularly recommend friends & followers to visit here as it comes highly regarded by myself.

June 2024 (Most recent visit) [AD|INVITE]

As always you have to start an Indian meal with poppadoms and pickle tray that goes without saying. We the shared (between 2 of us) the Bengal Special Combo (£14.90); Consists of Chicken Tikka, Onion Bhaji, Lamb Chop, Prawn Chot Pati & Fish Tikka. Oh my the lamb shops are to die for I am going to order them every time I dine here now! Everything in this starter is really moreish and it’s a fairly big portion to start with, but very worth it.

For our mains I asked the waiter what he recommended for a medium spicy curry that was saucy and had meat and some chunky vegetables in it. He recommended Korai Chicken (£11.95); Tender pieces of meat cooked with fresh pieces of onion & capsicum with green chillies & garnished with coriander. This was a great shout, so flavoursome with still a bit of a kick and exactly what I had asked for. Ben went with his good old Garlic Chilli Chicken (Hot) (£11.95); Cooked with fresh garlic, green chillies & herbs in a thick sauce. As always, this is a spicy and delectable curry which he thoroughly enjoyed. We always like to share rice & naan so our meal plus drinks will have totalled approx £62-£65 including drinks. Not bad at all for a very filling 2 course each with all of the sides.

Shout-out to Iqbal who looked after us and is a real character. The service you receive at this restaurant is just spot on. I promise you will leave here satisfied and happy.

Nov 2018 (first ever visit)

££ = Approx total spend £55 for the both of us including; poppadoms & pickle tray, a starter each, a mean each, 4 alcoholic drinks, 3 sides and a naan to share!

To carry on the theme of #NationalCurryWeek ( and yes this may have been my 5th curry this week ) we decided to take a trip to Trip Advisor’s top rated Indian Restaurant in Leeds.

I booked a table a few nights ahead for a Friday night, which I would recommend to do as it was just about full when we were there.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating and chatty as well. As with quite a number of curry houses we’ve been to the menu is VAST, so maybe a peek before your visit to try decide what you want would be a good idea. We started off with poppadoms and pickle tray which were good with a good choice of “pickles”. For starters I had the Paneer Tikka which was a decent portion and cooked well. We also tried the Murgh Bunda (like a chicken spring roll), small portion but tasty.

For my main I went for something different and chose a House Speciality – Chom Chom (medium curry with potato and chickpeas). I thoroughly enjoyed this curry. It was a little greasy/oily, but very tasty and filling. I also tried one of the Bhajis (aubergine), it was definitely different, think I’d prefer to stick to onion bhaji next time but worth a try.

We also chose the Naga Chilli (hot). Now for those of you that enjoy spicy food but struggle to find a curry that matches it’s hot rating, yes this one is actually very hot! We struggled to finish it and ended up downing two pints to cool our mouths down (any excuse). Saying this, the curry was tasty and cooked well, but be warned when this place describes a curry as hot, it is!!!

Well we enjoyed this lovely Indian feast between us and we were pleasantly surprised at how much value for money it was. I would definitely recommend this curry house to anyone around the Leeds area! Find out more about what they have to offer on their menu here.

Opening Times; Mon – Sat 5pm – 11pm & Sun – 4pm – 10pm
