The Acorn Inn one of our local Greene King pubs, is an old stone, former Coaching Inn built in 1868. The pub is filled with traditional character and offers a great spot for lunch, evening dining with the family, or catching up with friends, with great value food in cosy surroundings.
We have visited The Acorn Inn a few times now for food; it’s just a decent, traditional pub to go to for a few drinks and so convenient for down to earth, value for money food too. This is a Greene King franchise but has all the character a small country pub has to offer as well as a great, large covered outdoor dining area with a large TV and a beer garden also. Their Sunday Dinner is fabulous I have to say and there are other good meals to note too (keep reading) and I am sure we will end up eating here again regularly as it’s so close to us and they have lots of offers! If you’re ever passing or live close by, I would recommend popping into The Acorn Inn for food & drinks 🙂
NEW MENU PREVIEW CHARITY EVENING

We recently (Sep 2023) also had the chance to join the Acorn on their new menu preview night with family, friends and VIPs and we all raised £300 for Macmillan Cancer. It was a lovely evening with complimentary welcome drinks and samples of some dishes from their menu, of which the Plant-based meatballs were my absolute favourite!
NACHO SHARER £8.99
Home-fried nachos with mozzarella, Cheddar and nacho cheese sauce served with salsa, jalapeños and soured cream – these homemade nachos are impressive! Really big, homemade crunchy nachos and loads of toppings, what’s not to enjoy?

BEEF & ALE PIE £11.29
Best Pub Pie Champion & Gold Award Winner at the National Pie Awards British beef and rich Ruddles Ale gravy in shortcrust pastry – this impressive and tasty pie was served with Tenderstem broccoli and gravy and your choice of boiled potatoes or oven-baked chips. A really filling and comforting meal that we couldn’t fault, and have had this a few times now.

Chicken Schnitzel £12.99
Breaded chicken schnitzel served with rosemary sea salted skin-on fries, bravas sauce and a feta, tomato & rocket salad. This is a very filling and comforting plateful. My schnitzel was a tad over-done and chips very salty, but I are the lot – a great pub meal and the bravas sauce was yummy.

SUNDAY ROASTS
On Sunday, The Acorn offers Roast Dinners from £12.29 – £14.79 with a choice of turkey, beef, lamb shank and vegetarian options. I went with the Roast Turkey Breast and this was with all the trimmings; roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, cauliflower cheese, sausage meat stuffing, a pub-baked Yorkshire pudding and rich gravy. This was a right plate-fill and I enjoyed every bit of it! A really decent Sunday Dinner.

Current Offers (Oct 2023) – The Acorn Inn has currently got lots of great offers on this month for you to take the chance to try their amazing value for money food – Feed the family for £20 Monday to Friday; 2 adult and 2 kids main meals for just £20, 2 pub classic meals from £14.49 Monday to Saturday, Steak Thursdays, Lunch Club from £8.99 and more… check out their website here for more information.
We will definitely back to The Acorn Inn for food 🙂 We couldn’t fault the service, the staff are always friendly and helpful, and the food didn’t take long to come either. The restaurant here can get busy at time so I would definitely recommend booking ahead if possible.
