So when I saw Skinny Food had a 70% off sale I thought I’d have a browse and see if these low calorie, low carb products were any good. I decided the “fakeaways” would be the best thing to try as I don’t bake often and my cupboards are full of sauces so I didn’t need anything like that. But a quick healthier microwave meal sounded more up our street.

⭐️The verdict – a really decent, tasty meal for just 270 calories!
⭐️For £8.15* including postage I managed to bag us a Thai green chicken curry each and some “4 calorie rice” *from the sale
⭐️Within 5 minutes we were enjoying a hot, tasty AND healthy fakeaway with minimal effort but great taste.
The rice is made from Konjac powder, water & citric acid. Konjac powder is gluten free, full of fibre and known to contribute to weight loss. The rice was a slightly strange jelly like texture, I wouldn’t substitute the rice that I usually buy for this because of that and because of the price, but nevertheless it was a good contribution to the curry and I can see that it’d be a good option for those looking to restrict their calorie intake.
The curry was absolutely lovely – full of flavour with a bit of a kick too which we always enjoy. Plenty of chicken and vegetables in a delicious creamy sauce. I would definitely buy this again if I came across this in the shop.
So yeah I do think Skinny Foods products are ones to consider when looking for that healthier option – I am intrigued now by their other stuff such as sauces and other meals, but I won’t be cutting out my usual rice/pasta any time soon!

Because we enjoyed our first delivery from Skinny Foods so much, we have since also tried their Sweet & Sour Chicken (207 calories per portion), which we found in the sale. A decent meal, quite sweet and the sauce was a little thin and watery, but this was also tasty and you can’t go wrong with such low calories. We didn’t order their rice this time and stuck with normal basmati rice. I did also buy their Chocolate Chip flapjack mix however didn’t realise you needed one of their syrups to mix this with and yet to still try/bake these…
